All volunteers at Tutoring Beyond Borders are required to provide Police Records Checks less than one year old. If you already have one, then that is great! If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to apply for one and provide us with the original or a copy before you begin your volunteer position.

There are two main ways to get your police check: (1) by applying in-person at the Police Reporting Centre which takes less than an hour, or (2) by applying online, which takes 3-4 weeks. Transportation is provided for the former.

When you apply for your PRC, you are required to have two pieces of photo ID (student cards do count as one), and a detailed list of your home addresses for the past 5 years or 60 months.

If you have successfully passed the interview from TBB, we will be providing you with a letter of Volunteer Intent, which gives you a discount on the cost of PRC. You will need to pay $10 for the PRC, and if you let TBB keep the original copy of your PRC, we’ll give you a $10 discount on our TBB Uniform Package.
